Bank robbery info sought

DURHAM -- Police are asking for information about a bank robbery that occurred Oct. 26 at Wachovia Bank's branch at 2000 W. Main St.

A man entered the bank around 3 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money. The suspect did not display a weapon. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen running toward Ninth Street.

The suspect was described as a tall, thin black man with a dark complexion. He was wearing a ball cap with a design on it, sunglasses, a brown tweed jacket, a white T-shirt and dark pants. He was carrying a bag similar to a laptop computer bag with a shoulder strap.

Suspect faces drug charges

DURHAM -- Edward Thomas Harris, 39, of 1816 Fletcher's Chapel Road, was arrested Oct. 27 and charged with possession of cocaine and maintaining a vehicle with a controlled substance.

He was released from the Durham County Jail after posting a $3,500 bond.

Thefts reported

DURHAM -- A variety of crimes were reported to police recently.

Here are the details:

- Burglars stole 50 DVDs, camera equipment, a heater and food worth $5,435 from a home in the 300 block of Kilarney Drive Friday.

- A man said someone stole $40 and a wallet from his home in the 500 block of Dowd Street Friday.

- A robber took $100 from a man in the 1000 block of North Miami Boulevard Thursday.

n Burglars hit a home in the 800 block of Lindley Drive Friday and took $4,830 worth of property that included gold rings, a necklace, watch, revolver, shoes and two laptop computers.
