Wounded man offers no details
DURHAM -- Durham police on Saturday were investigating a shooting that occurred Friday night at 1309 Hudson Ave.
According to a statement by the Office of the Watch Commander, a black man whose age police estimated at between 20 and 25, was found at the site with gunshot wounds to the neck and hip.
He was transported to Duke University Hospital and the wounds were not believed to be life threatening. He remained hospitalized on Saturday.
Police said the victim "has not been able to provide any details as to how he was shot." Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
Child suffers minor injuries
DURHAM -- Police are investigating an accidental fall that occurred Saturday afternoon at 801 E. Woodcroft Pkwy.
Police were called to East Woodcroft Parkway at 2:53 p.m. and found a young child who had accidently fallen from a window. The child, whose name was not released, was transported to Duke Hospital with very minor injuries.
The child was to remain at the hospital overnight for observation
Woman wanted by N.Y. officials
DURHAM -- Stacy Leonard -- alias Stacy Allen -- 44, has violated her parole terms and is wanted by New York authorities, according to warrants.
In New York, Leonard pleaded guilty to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree.
She was being held in Durham County Jail without bond on Saturday.
Kansas seeks extradition
DURHAM -- Charles Hamilton, 49, is being held in the Durham County Jail without bond as he awaits extradition to Kansas on charges including sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated burglary, according to warrants.
Kidnap, assault charges are filed
DURHAM -- Malcom Walker, of 400 Mahome St. Apt. 8, has been jailed in lieu of $750,000 bond for a variety of charges including first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
A police report said Walker, 26, told a man he'd shoot him in the foot if he didn't back away. According to police, Walker fired a semi-automatic handgun.
11-year-old is assaulted
DURHAM -- Andre Sanders, 19, of 18 Beckham Place, is due in court Nov. 10 to face charges of assault on a child under 12.
The 11-year-old Sanders is accused of attacking is from Caswell County.
It was unclear where the alleged assault occurred.
A police report stated that Sanders twice slammed the child on the back.
